Place new entities at the point / on the visible portion of the screen

A suggestion on Flying Logic. When I have “incremental layout” turned on (or is it off? – when the layout doesn’t change all the time), it would be nice to be able to place new entities on the visible portion of the screen, rather than the current behavior which pushes new entities to the edge of the entire surface.

What I see:

  • Large drawing – larger than can readably fit on a screen
  • Zoomed in and editing / reviewing some section
  • Create a new entity not linked to anything else
  • The new entity gets placed at the bottom of the entire surface AND the surface scrolls down to show that new entity
  • Now I have to remember where I was and potentially link that new entity as needed

What I’d like to happen

  • The new entity is created on the screen where I can see and edit it and link it appropriately
  • I accept that it will “move” away when I turn off (or on?) incremental layout

My normal “solution” to this is to wait until people can articulate how the new entity would be connected and then create it. But sometimes, it is easier to write out what people are saying FIRST, and then make the connection.
